家景Inner Landscape

法國哲學家加斯東．巴舍拉(Gaston Bachelard) 在其著述《空間詩學》(The Poetic of Space)當中，將「家」 (house/home) 視為世界與宇宙的最初空間，塑造了往後我們對外在各種空間的認識。家的內部配置營造的不只是一個同質地的空間，而是一連串有自己的記憶、想像和夢想的地方。

位於永福路上的齁空間，一棟三層樓的透天厝，雖然目前作為藝術展演的替代空間使用，然而其外觀與內部，仍保有當初該空間更早之前作為「家」的面貌。從外表公寓式的瓷磚拼貼到內部木質的陳設與隔間、從扶手梯的欄杆到櫥櫃裏自國外帶回的裝飾品，很自然的投射出該空間的歷史感，與之前主人對於家的氛圍營造與想像。

在「家景」這個在台南的駐地計劃中，我被邀請居住在齁空間的三樓的一個房間。那是一個充滿時間感與回憶的地方。所謂的回憶並不只是我個人觸景生情對往事的回溯，其中還包括了對屋主家人之前的生活情境的想像。在這個空間當中面對空間與物件的私密經驗，成為我欲完成此計劃的重要靈感。

In his “La Poétique de L’espace” the French philosopher Gaston Bachelard indicates that the house/home is the earliest world or initial space of the universe. The concept forms our cognition of a variety of external spaces later on.  The internal configuration of the house doesn’t duplicate the same textured place, but is a series of places having their own memory, imagination and dream.

“Howl Space” is a three floors house located on Yongfu Road.  Now it is used as an alternative art space, but it still maintains its original appearance of “home” from its exterior to interior.  From its collaged furring tile outside to the wooden furnishings and compartment inside; from its stair railing to the ornament in the cabinet brought from abroad, all of them naturally project to the sense of history of the space and the house owner’s construction and imagination for the home.

In the residency project “Inner Landscape” in Tainan, I was invited to live in the room on the third floor at Howl Space. It’s a place filled with a sense of time and memory. The so-called “memory” is not only my personal perspective of the past since the things here remind me of it, but also includes my imagination of the life situation and the house owner’s family.  The private experience face of the space and objects in it becomes the main inspiration for creating this project.
